Some of the TC rifle and some of the Pedersoli's come with a hole already there, but of not, do not panic, it's an easy 5 minute job to drill and tap a 6/32 or 8/32 hole. BTW - TOTW has the best prices on the Pedersoli Ghost sights.Pull the wedges and lift the barrel out of the stock. Do remove the nipple, maybe even that flash channel manufacturing plug that some call a clean out screw. Put the breech in a bucket of water. Most modern patent breeches on the factory made guns are designed to be cheap to make and install. A patched .570 diameter roundball with an 80 grain load of GOEX 2Fg had a breech pressure of 5,200 psi and a muzzle velocity of 1288. Upping the roundballs powder load to 120 grains raised the breech pressure to 7,900 psi with a MV of 1568 fps.The old standard for 12 gauge full choke was .040" constriction. Modern guns with modern loads really don't need that much constriction but with muzzleloaders we still are duplicating the old loadings. So the recess for a full choke 12 is .020" deep, which of course enlarges the bore diameter by the required .040".Here is how to do that. Cut the slot just deep enough so the bottom of the base of the lug can be flat and fit on a flat surface on the barrel. So make the flat on the barrel just wide enough for the base of the lug and no more. Then file in the dovetails on the barrel and angle the ends of the lug base to match.What it looks like, does matter.
